5 things we did to add drama to a dining room
The first time when I was in the space I saw how high the ceiling was and my clients told me it was the main reason why they bought the property. To draw the attention to the high ceiling penthouse apartment, we executed 5 simple ways to make it a focal point when you first enter the home.
Dressing a space is all about layering and here is how we mix different materials and items into one cohesive space.
1. First, we added a dramatic metallic tint light fixture at the dining room. One tip is to have the light at the dining room hang lower as it creates more drama as no one will be walking under those lights.
2. Next, we went with a remote controlled phone app window treatment system for convenience. With a custom half tone curtain, the space feels polished and it blocks out the sunlight when my clients are having a stay home movie night out.
3. By adding a mirror at the dining room wall, it helps reflect the gorgeous details on the tv wall and it reflects light and makes the entire dining room look wider and brighter.
4. Soft touches such as a tray with fresh flowers are instant ways to add colour to a styling vignette. It helps to create a neat grouping for the coasters or any scented candles.
5. The last finishing touch was to dress the table with a table runner. This simple item tricks the eye into thinking the table is lower and wider. It also adds colour to break all the wood on wood textures in the dining room setting.
